About

Hello, this is my blog for a very simple idea I have – THINGS I FOUND (at the thrift store). I’m a quasi-minimalist/utilitarian who doesn’t buy much in general. Let me make it clear that this blog is in no way an homage to consumerism or the purchasing of stuff we don’t necessarily need. Thrifting, I believe is a wonderful way to give an item a second life.

I’m a 29 year old dude who lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  I tell you this because my age and living situation makes for me to occasionally purchase needed things for living, gifting, selling (to make rent), or just plain decor. This is the visual documentation of the things I find, buy and sell – so enjoy!

If you see me out and about in the stores come up and say hi! It’s always great to meet fans of the blog and fellow thrifties!

  3. Awesome blog. I found it through your article on Antique Trader.

Here’s something I hate about thrift stores, or at least one particular thrift store.

I was at the supermarket. When I returned to my car, I found a flyer on my windshield that said something like “50% off on Tuesdays”. Well, it was Tuesday, and I had some free time so I drove the three miles to the thrift store and started the hunt. I found seven pretty nice collectible type things that I planned to resell on VintageStyleDecor.Etsy.com. I added them up, in my head, and they came to about $110 so I figured to get them for $55, or so. I took them to the cashier, she rang them up and said, “that’ll be $118.00”. “What about the 50% off on Tuesdays?” I said. She replied, “Oh, we don’t give discounts on collectibles.”

I walked out without saying a word.

Believe it or not, I returned to that same shop the next day and bought just one item. A Budweiser Stein for $10.00. It was a rare one, and I sold it a few days later on eBay for $140.00
